Sinus Lift Surgery in Brandon
Sinus Lift Surgery Near You
What Is a Sinus Lift Surgery?
A sinus lift is a special dental procedure done when there isn’t enough bone in the upper jaw to place a dental implant. Over time, bone in this area can shrink or thin out, especially if teeth have been missing for a while. This can make it hard for your dentist to place implants safely and securely.
During a sinus lift surgery near you, the professional gently moves the sinus membrane upward (or “lifts” it) to create space. Then, bone or bone-like material is added to that area. This helps your body grow more bone in that spot. After a few months, once the bone heals and becomes strong, our dentist can place your implant.
When Do You Need a Sinus Lift?
There are a number of reasons a sinus lift may be right for you:
- Inadequate bone volume for implant placement
- Tooth roots in close proximity to the sinus
- Loss of bone volume after a previous tooth extraction
- Years of being without teeth have resulted in advanced bone atrophy
We will obtain and review 3D imaging and work with you and your dentist’s specific goals. Dr. Doroshenko and her team will develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
What Happens During the Sinus Lift Procedure?
This surgery is done by an oral surgeon. First, the area is numbed, so you don’t feel pain. A small opening is made in the bone near your sinus area. The sinus membrane is gently lifted, and then bone material is placed underneath it. The area is closed with stitches.
You will go home the same day, but healing takes time. Your body will start building new bone in that area over the next few months.
