Expose and Bonding in Brandon
Expose and Bonding Near You
Have you or your loved one been told you need an expose and bonding in Brandon procedure? This is common when undergoing orthodontic treatment! Sometimes teeth do not erupt naturally and require guidance to move into place. We will work closely with your Orthodontic team to form a treatment plan for success. In our Brandon office we have the best 3D technology to evaluate the anatomy of your teeth and propose a treatment plan best suited for you or your loved one.
What is Expose and Bonding?
Expose and bonding near you is a small surgical procedure to help a tooth come into the mouth when it gets stuck under the gums. This usually happens with a canine (eye tooth) in the upper jaw, but it can happen with other teeth too.
Here’s how it works:
- First, the oral surgeon gently removes a small piece of gum to “expose” the hidden tooth.
- Then, a small bracket is “bonded” (glued) to the tooth.
- Your orthodontist will later use braces or a small chain to slowly move the tooth into the right place.
This procedure helps make room for the tooth to come in the right way instead of staying trapped under the gums.
When Is Expose and Bonding Needed?
Expose and bonding in Brandon is often recommended when:
- A permanent tooth has not come in, even after it’s supposed to
- A baby tooth won’t fall out, and the adult tooth is stuck behind it
- X-rays show a tooth growing in the wrong direction
- Your orthodontist needs all your teeth in place to complete your braces treatment
If your child is getting braces or already has them, their orthodontist may notice that a tooth isn’t moving like it should. That’s when they might send you to an oral surgeon for this helpful procedure.
